Tonight, I was lonely,
A bit empty, a bit silent.
The room was empty,
Nobody was there.

Then I thought about it,
How it had been when we talked
When you were there
How long has it been since then?

I also thought about it,
How it was when we met.
Some meetings are unimportant—
Others unique.

When you are alone,
Is that sad—or not…
Know what I think?
It is better to have friends in sight.

Talk, laugh, chat, wink,
All of that you cannot on your own;
As you need somebody
Who can be a real friend.

That is why I am happy each time
When I am no longer lonely;
When the room is no more empty,
When you, a friend, are there again.
